Coconut, Olive Oil, Bacon. Oh my!

Can I be honest with you? Share a little secret with you? Lean in here with me for a second…I love fat. Seriously! Fat is 100% a part of my eating and life. It adds so much to my food…and it’s also good for my health. Blown away? Surprised? Then you have to listen to today’s episode of Southern Fried Girlfriends Podcast. In this episode, I try really hard to cut through the clutter and get real with you about how fat plays and important part in both the satisfaction of our food and the health of our hearts, brains, and bodies.

As we were talking, we got a little deep in the weeds about omega-3 fatty acids, one of my passions for our health. We also talked about things like coconut oil (super controversial), bacon fat (the sacred pig of southern cooking), and my favorite oil for frying. (Disclaimer…and spoiler! I work for National Peanut Board, but they didn’t pay me to talk about peanut oil here. I really do think that it’s fantastic for many reasons, which I outline in the show today.)

Finally, we talk about bathing in ice cream. Just kidding! Well, we do, but for real, we talk about how you can incorporate fat into your lifestyle and eating in a sensible way. Check it out and let us know what you think. BTW, 1 tablespoon of olive oil has 119 calories. That’s a correction from what I said in the live taping of today’s show. Happy to correct my error. =)
